The Dental Assistant assists the staff dentist with direct patient care, providing comprehensive, skilled chair-side assisting services during dental treatment procedures. The Assistant is also responsible for clinic support and office management tasks including:
Setting up instruments, equipment and materials for each patient visit;
Maintaining the cleanliness and neatness of the treatment and sterilizing rooms, cleaning and sterilizing instruments as necessary to maintain optimal infection control standards following established clinic procedures in keeping with OSHA standards and regulations;
Taking and developing x-rays and making dental impressions as prescribed by the dentist; and
Performing various office management duties.
Completion of an accredited dental assisting program or equivalent of education and on the job experience.
Coronal polishing certification required
Two years of related experience.
Must be bilingual- fluent in English and Spanish.
Must demonstrate the ability to communicate effectively and sensitively with dental clinic patients; basic understanding of computerized data management systems; good organizational skills; ability to prioritize and perform multiple tasks simultaneously.
