The massage therapist administers professional massage and body treatments to our patrons. They must have a thorough knowledge of numerous massage modalities, posses a general understanding of body treatments. They must possess excellent communication skills to effectively provide wellness solutions to meet the needs of our patrons. They must hold and maintain current state licensure in massage therapy and active personal liability insurance.
Be on time for your shift, prompt with each appointment and perform services within the appropriate time allotted for the service.
Provide consistent professional massage and body treatments in accordance with protocols and accepted certification practices.
Effectively inform and educate our patrons about specific wellness concerns.
Be flexible with your schedule, supporting the needs of the wellness center.
Properly care for equipment and use proper amounts of product to assist with cost controls.
Have complete knowledge and understanding of all agency services offered.
Uphold the standards of sanitation and sterilization as directed by law and the Wellness Center policies and procedures.
Perform prep work, properly clean and restock room as required.
Communicate to management any and all occurrences involving staff or patrons in the Wellness Center that require attention.
Actively promote the Wellness Center, treatments, services as well as programs, promotions and/or discounts available.
Handle patrons’ questions and concerns professionally and courteously.
Provide accurate, appropriate and immediate responses to all requests by patrons.
Possess the ability to work without direct supervision.
Maintain a positive attitude and contribute toward a quality work environment.
Current State of Illinois Massage Therapist Licensure
Active personal liability insurance as a Licensed Massage Therapist
Completion of degree/certification from an accredited institution meeting the minimum educational requirements for licensure as a massage therapist.
At least 2 years of direct post-licensure experience.
Bilingual English/Spanish Preferred
Knowledge of various modalities preferred.
Must be customer-service oriented.
Able to communicate effectively with clients, management, and staff.
Project VIDA was founded in 1992 to address the urgent needs of racial and ethnic minorities. Initially, the organization provided HIV education through street outreach services to area youth. Now Project VIDA has expanded its community scope by initiating a variety of programs: direct services for people infected or affected by HIV/AIDS and various prevention and health education programs.
Ro...ughly half of our Direct Services clients are between the ages of twenty-five and forty-four (46%), live at or below the federal poverty level (57%), and are receiving some form of public aid (43%) or are uninsured (42%). Nearly four fifths of our Direct Services clients are Latino (78%), and roughly half of these speak only Spanish. One-fifth (20%) of these clients are African American. Most are male (80%), followed by female (18%), and transgender (2%).
