Lyric Opera of Chicago exists to provide a broad, deep and relevant cultural service to the Chicago region and the nation, and to advance the development of the art form of opera.
We are seeking to fill a full-time role in support of Lyric’s growing group sales program. Lyric’s Group Sales Associate will be an essential member of the Marketing and Audience Services teams focused on maximizing ticket sales to a wide range of groups while providing unsurpassed customer service for group patrons.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Demonstrate leadership in accordance with Lyric’s mission and vision.
Assist with all aspects of Group Ticket sales by effectively handling phone and email inquiries from group buyers and successfully converting them to paid ticket orders.
Responsible for confirming, invoicing, and allocating group ticket inventory; monitoring payments and outstanding balances; releasing unpaid group tickets to allow ample time for general sale.
Assist Group Sales Manager with invoicing, data entry, payment processing, account maintenance, and marketing of group services.
Notify Group Sales Manager of delayed payments or at-risk reservations.
Assist with all aspects of Student Matinee performances, including front of house problem-solving. Interface with Lyric Unlimited staff in preparation for Student Matinees. Correspond with educators via phone, email, and fax.
Coordinate ticket fulfillment for traditional group buyers, Lyric Express, and Education groups.
Work with Marketing Department colleagues on group buyer offers and initiatives.
Assist in troubleshooting web issues for group patrons.
Identify new group partners in collaboration with Group Sales Manager. Support Group Sales Manager in developing strategies around new group engagement.
Assist Group Sales Manger with meeting and greeting group leaders before performances and act as liaison between group buyers and Lyric.
Meet with potential group buyers at networking events, and/or local, regional or national events.
Execute sales reports in accordance with marketing metric needs.
Generate direct mail and e-mail mailing lists.

KNOWLEDGE AND SKILLS:
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience in high volume customer service environment.
Sales background preferred
Highly effective organizational, interpersonal and communication skills.
Working knowledge of and comfort working with:
Microsoft suite of products. (WORD, Excel)
CRM expertise (Tessitura a strong plus)
Ability to work and think independently, a motivated self-starter who also works well in a larger team.
Occasionally oversee evening or weekend functions, deployments or performances.
Busy and challenging customer service office assisting all segments of Lyric Opera constituencies.
