Campaign Specialist, Student Series Classification: Full-time (35 hrs/wk); Salaried Reports to: Director, Student Series
The mission of The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society (LLS) is to cure leukemia, lymphoma, Hodgkin’s disease and myeloma, and improve the quality of life of patients and their families. LLS raises funds to support its mission through a variety of exciting campaigns.
The Campaign Specialist, Student Series position of LLS’ Greater Illinois Chapter will provide operational support for the Student Series campaign.
Student Series (SS):
Meet established fundraising goals for the campaign.
Make calls and send follow up emails/communication to spring recruited schools to confirm participation, campaign dates, and material needs.
Recruit schools to participate in the program.
Conduct assemblies and student leadership meetings at schools.
Conduct strategy phone calls to new volunteers/schools.
Assist with the recommitment process: utilize JobAid to pull the list of schools scheduled to begin their program, confirm the school’s recorded campaign dates and amount of materials before supplies are shipped; and assign lists to self and staff as needed.
Assist with the fulfillment and management of program supplies.
Ship materials to schools starting their program in between national shipping dates.
Encourage online giving: create web pages and send email templates, contest reminders, pointers, and weekly updates to participating schools. Conduct follow-up phone calls to ensure school is utilizing program effectively.
Conduct Week-1 campaign phone calls and communication to schools reportedly in first week of their campaign. Share additional fundraising ideas and reminder of incentives (luncheon or school prizes).
Assist with donation management: update JobAid, pull registration sheets, and prepare and mail thank you letters and merited incentives within 24 hours of receipt.
Manage Olive Garden luncheon scheduling process with both schools and restaurants.
Conduct Olive Garden confirmation phone calls to restaurants and schools and fax weekly updates to Olive Garden managers.
Assist with collection phone calls and other communication to schools that have not turned in their donations.
Encourage and model standard for cross-promotion amongst campaigns
Attend and assist with annual chapter events as assigned, e.g. Light the Night Walk
Maintain a working knowledge of the LLS mission and the capability to educate others on our goals
Perform other duties as assigned by Director, Student Series
Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience
At least 2 years experience in a fundraising/nonprofit environment preferred
Excellent oral and written communication skills
Capable of balancing multiple priorities effectively and meeting deadlines
Enthusiastic, self-motivated and committed to excellence
Resourcefulness and problem solving acumen
Excellent computer skills (word processing and database programs)
Strong attention to detail
Valid driver’s license and access to a car
Local in-state travel is required; must be willing to attend and facilitate a minimum of 70 school visits
