In collaboration with staff, the part-time (20 hours a week) Volunteer Manager develops and executes a strategy for recruitment, training, engagement and retention of individual, corporate, faith-based, community volunteers/groups to enhance the quantity and quality of services available to St. Leonard’s residents and program participants. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Volunteer Manager works closely with the Development Director and program staff members. Specific areas of responsibility include:
In collaboration with staff, develops and implements a recruitment, management, retention and recognition plan for volunteers.
Creates and maintains volunteer opportunities and schedules for multiple program sites.
Schedules, oversees and manages all volunteer projects including corporate partner one- day volunteer projects, church outreach days, etc.
In collaboration with the Development Director, cultivates and stewards donor relationships through volunteer opportunities.
Schedules and conducts information sessions as needed for prospective volunteer groups.
Maintains thorough knowledge of all agency programs and activities, and collaborates with staff to identify volunteer opportunities.
Fields inquiries regarding all aspects of agency volunteer opportunities.
In collaboration with the Development Director, maintains ongoing communication with current volunteers regarding agency updates.
Collaborates with staff and volunteer group leaders to ensure that volunteer placement is appropriate and successful.
Plans and executes volunteer events and activities, including a Christmas event and a Volunteer Appreciation event.
In collaboration with the Development Director, participates in donor and community relations activities and events.
Develops and oversees orientation and training for new volunteers and volunteer groups as needed.
Develops and updates policies and procedures related to volunteers as needed.
Produces and maintains current resource materials for volunteer use.
Maintains database of all volunteer contact information and hours, providing quarterly reports to St. Leonard’s leadership.
Provides information and guidance for volunteer components of donor funding proposals.
Maintains an appropriate professional demeanor towards coworkers, visitors, program participants, and all others.
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Volunteer development, management, and deployment experience required. Must be able to work flexible hours, as well as work some week nights and weekends. Superior interpersonal communication skills. Enjoy working with people in a cooperative manner that creates harmony. Ability to match the needs and skills of volunteers to the needs of St. Leonard’s. Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and familiarity with databases. Ability to work independently and manage multiple tasks on deadline. Ability to record information and maintain records effectively and efficiently. Excellent organizational, and time management skills. Ability to think strategically.
Additional Salary Information: We offer a competitive hourly rate based on experience.
