The CST Recovery Support Specialist is an experienced consumer of mental health services who is familiar with and supports the concepts of empowerment and recovery. The Recovery Support Specialist will serve as a role model and as such needs to maintain his/her recovery plan. The Recovery Support Specialist is responsible for assisting in the development and implementation of peer support services, including consumer-run programming that focuses on self-help, peer support, symptom education, advocacy, and consumer-run activities.
Education: Bachelor’s Degree in a Human Service field or High School Diploma and at least five years of experience working in the mental health field.
License/certifications: CRSS (Consumer Recovery Support Specialist) certification required or must be obtained during employment.
Experience: Some experience preferred, at least 5 years of experience is required for employees who do not have a Bachelor’s Degree.
