Identify, cultivate, solicit, secure and steward individual prospects and donors, targeting gifts in the $100,000+ range on behalf of the Museum. Actively participant in the implementation of the Museum’s comprehensive capital campaign, focusing on campaign priorities and involving volunteers and other shareholders in the realization of campaign goals. Responsibilities include interacting with and soliciting corporate partners and donors for annual gifts, major gifts and planned gifts as appropriate. Work directly with all other fundraisers, senior staff and volunteer leadership. In addition, this position is responsible for the direction and management of the museum’s unrestricted sponsorship program.
Identify, cultivate, solicit, secure and steward individual prospects and donors, targeting gifts in the $100,000+ range on behalf of the Museum. Responsibilities include interacting with and soliciting donors and prospects for annual fund gifts (including events or corporate support as appropriate), major gifts and planned gifts as appropriate. Work directly with other fundraisers, senior staff and volunteer leadership. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage a prospect portfolio of approximately 150-200 prospects, and manage the qualification of a select group of suspects.
Prepare strategies for individual donor engagement, solicitation and stewardship.
Develop written solicitation plans for new and current major gift prospects within portfolio.
Build relationships with prospects and the institution in order to identify possible interest points.
Actively visit and speak to donors and prospects, and keep them informed on MSI projects.
Draft materials, acknowledgements, and reports as needed.
Produce personalized proposals for donor solicitations.
Staff other MSI leadership and volunteers as needed on donor engagement or solicitations.
Identify, qualify and research new donor prospects.
Assist in Individual and Major Giving events and other donor meetings for cultivation and stewardship.
Work with Director to complete other tasks as assigned to help meet institutional goals.
Bachelor degree from four-year college or university and/or four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Minimum three to five years fundraising experience with track-record of successfully securing gifts.
Passion for the mission and goals of the Museum of Science and Industry.
Experience working with high-level volunteers, donors and colleagues on collaborative activities.
Strong interpersonal skills and comfort working with donors.
Familiar with Blackbaud Raiser's Edge a plus.
Detail-oriented with a strong focus on quality and accuracy.
Able to manage confidential information with discretion.
Self-directed and proactive.
