POSITION DESCRIPTION: This position ensures the successful coordination and execution of the Agency’s supportive housing programs and management of Agency owned properties, and serves as a vital link between the Agency participants, management companies and support services staff.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Intake to provide housing location services to new participants
Facilitate Client Intake Process, including income verification, rent certifications, and utility allowance calculations
Introduce participants to units and turnover keys
Assist with coordination of unit turnover services
Conduct unit inspections, including annual, environmental, move-in and move-out
Write and send checks, receipts and notices to residents including, but not limited to notices about inspections and non-compliance issues
Work with tenants to process rent recertification and set up payment plans
Maintain and update tenant files including updated leases, unit inspections, rent reasonableness forms, and memos
Assist with monthly reports, lease generation and rent requests
Collect, enter and validate data in Yardi, company database
Work with landlords and case management staff to resolve tenant issues
Cultivate new landlord relationships and maintain existing relationships with landlords and management companies
Provide instructions to clients regarding tenant rights and responsibilities
Provide on-going housing counseling services to clients
Provide clients exiting the program with assistance in securing appropriate community housing
Assist with Key Management: Key sign-out and distribution
Facilitate Monthly Tenant Council Meetings
Participate in all relevant weekly Housing Team meetings, and other meetings
Assist with biweekly 24 hour coverage of Agency owned properties
Perform other duties as assigned
This position is supervised by: Director, Property & Asset Management
Bachelor’s Degree or related field/equivalent experience
Minimum 3 years of experience in property/asset management field
Knowledge of homelessness and housing issues.
Knowledge of Chicago Landlord/Tenant Ordinance
Knowledge of Affordable Housing Practices (Housing First, Harm Reduction)
Comfortable working with diverse groups of people including: Homeless population and LGBT
Excellent oral and written communication; exceptional organizational skills.
Proficient in MS Office, specifically Excel, and data management systems.
STARTING SALARY: Submit salary requirements with application. Applications without salary will not be considered. Salary range $30,000-$40,000.
WORK SCHEDULE: Full-time; regular business hours with some flexibility required.
Essential Functions Include:
Able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs, and walk up and down stairs
Must possess valid driver’s license, reliable vehicle and proof of automobile insurance
Must pass applicable background tests
