Description: The Residential Aide’s will work in SRHAC’s Interim Housing Program with families entering our shelter system from homelessness. These families will have a variety of complex barriers including a lack of stable housing/income and health, functional and social issues. The interim housing experience for clients will focus on building skills, reducing mental health and functional barriers, and strengthening community social service linkages necessary for the client to fully integrate into the community once they leave our interim housing program.
Responsibilities of the Residential Aide will include:
receiving families for housing placement and completing intakes
completing room checks and curfew checks
cleaning and preparing rooms for new families
light cleaning of hallways and bathrooms
food preparation and serving meals - dinner
crisis intervention and de-escalation
collaborating with case managers, supervisors and building staff
completing administrative tasks.
Part time Friday and Saturday 11 pm- 7 am
Saturday and Sunday 3 pm - 11 pm
Social service experience (preferably a family shelter)
The Single Room Housing Assistance Corporation (SRHAC), a City and HUD –funded 501(c) 3, was created in 1995 as a grassroots initiative by SRO operators/owners to bring together the for-profit, not-for-profit, and governmental sectors into a unique partnership to assist the SRO community in finding solutions to: (1) Help strengthen, preserve and protect Chicago’s SROs as vital, affordable housing...; (2) The help homeless and disabled needy individuals find SRO housing and connect with supportive services; (3) To help prevent single adults living in SROs from relapsing into homelessness by stabilizing and improving their lives; (4) To assist and advocate for SRO residents and SRO operators; (5) Top combat homelessness.
