The Youth Connection Charter School Principal shall establish and promote high standards and expectations for all students and staff. The YCCS Principal serves as the supervisor and instructional leader of the school and is responsible for the planning, implementation and evaluation of a quality educational program for alternative high school students designed to increase their academic performance and personal development:
Ensure compliance with YCCS rules and regulations, CPS policies and procedures, and state and federal laws
Implement and manage an educational program consistent with the philosophy, mission, values, and goals of YCCS
Research developments in secondary school teaching and learning and provide leadership in determining the appropriateness of incorporating recent development/trends into the school’s educational program
Hire, manage, evaluate and motivate an instructional staff that is committed to the philosophy, mission, values, and goals of the school’s educational program
Coordinate curriculum development, the master schedule, and instructional methodology
Plan and implement the school’s budget
Manage the operations and the resources of the school
Lead collaborative school level planning processes using student engagement and achievement data to monitor the development, implementation, and evaluation of all school programs and activities
Perform additional duties as assigned
Master’s Degree in Education preferred, but not mandatory
ISBE Professional Educator Licensure (PEL 1) with General Administrative endorsement preferred
YCCS serves At-Risk Students and High School dropouts who are ages 16 - 21 and who have been under-served and/or disconnected from traditional education.
YCCS offers a diversified portfolio of alternative education "choice" campuses for Off-Track Students and Out-of-School Youth that provide multiple pathways to graduation.
