Position Description: This position staffs a 24 hour crisis line for the residential program of the Domestic Violence Program of the YWCA Evanston/North Shore.
Staffs Crisis Line (25%):
Responds to calls on the 24-hour Crisis Line.
Provides callers with crisis intervention, emotional support, information about women’s legal rights and options, information about domestic violence, and referrals.
Completes phone intake, makes arrangements for admission to the program, and provides an orientation upon arrival.
Staffs Office (50%):
Provides 24-hour staff presence in the shelter to respond to the needs of the residents.
Updates house status board
Distributes supplies, food, monitors the usage of resident’s medications.
Communicates with other staff (10%):
Reads log book daily to stay updated on shelter issues. Communicates via log book with staff as well as contacts the on-call person when necessary.
Attends mandatory crisis line meetings.
Provides conflict resolution and crisis intervention when needed.
Completes paperwork (10%):
Keeps accurate service documentation, including narratives, phone and supplementary intakes, contact book, accident report forms, etc.
Submits time sheets in timely fashion.
Knowledge of domestic violence preferred; 40-hour Domestic Violence training is a plus; Bi-lingual is a plus.
