In the Adoption Support & Preservation Program, we work to stabilize adoption and guardianship placements for children and the families they join. We help them heal, grow, and develop in loving homes. The Therapist provides in-home therapy and case management services to children who will be or are currently in adoption or guardianship placements. As an Adoption Support & Preservation Therapist, you will be an active member of the treatment team in a child and family-driven program. You will collaborate on behalf of your clients with outside systems, including school personnel, courts, attorneys, DCFS, and POS caseworkers and supervisors. This part-time position (20 hours/week) offers the opportunity for growth and flexibility, including the potential for additional hours and collaboration with other clinical programming.
Therapist responsibilities include:
Complete comprehensive mental health assessments, with input from parents/ guardians and other providers.
Develop and evaluate individualized treatment plans.
Provide home-based, trauma-focused therapy (individual, family, and group therapy).
Facilitate clinical groups/trainings.
Link children and families with community resources.
Work closely with outside service providers such as schools and psychiatrists.
Comply with Medicaid standards of practice and documentation.
Master’s degree in counseling, social work, or related social service field required.
Clinical experience with children and families required.
Illinois clinical licensure (LCSW, LCPC, LMFT, etc.) or the ability to obtain Illinois licensure within two years of employment required.
Experience working in a Medicaid program setting preferred.
Familiarity with the impact of trauma on child and family development.
Excellent attention to detail and strong verbal and written communication skills.
High level of time management skills, organization, flexibility, and commitment.
Ability to work a flexible schedule that involves some evenings and on-call responsibilities.
Valid driver’s license, auto insurance, and reliable transportation required.
