CSS is a private not-for-profit social/human services agency that initiates, provides and promotes services for people with intellectual/developmental disabilities and their families, within their communities, in order to strengthen their independence, self-esteem and ability to participate in and contribute to community life.
CSS is seeking a dedicated individual to join our team as a Full-time, Direct Support Professional/Van Driver working with adults diagnosed with intellectual disabilities.
Specialize Service DSP Duties
Complete up to 30 hours per month in the Specialized Services program acting as DSP to an individual housed at a local nursing home.
Specialize Service responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Implement and document individuals’ goals and objectives via data management system and or data tracking sheet.
Provide all necessary direct care services, including self-care and daily living activities.
Ensure the maintenance of individuals’ rights.
Assist individuals to develop community supports, fostering relationships with non-paid persons in the community, e.g. family members, neighbors and volunteers.
Provide training to individuals in leisure skill development.
Provide supportive coaching and problem solving assistance on an ongoing basis and at times of crisis.
Provide ongoing input to VP of Community Programs on individuals’ behavior, health and well-being, and all other pertinent information.
Assist individuals with maintaining clean clothes and home, developing and following laundry and housekeeping schedule, as needed.
Ensure individuals’ health needs are met, and they are accurately taking their medications.
Maintain positive interactions with individuals, family/guardians and co-workers.
Maintain a team approach in the implementation of Service Plans.
Participate in the individuals’ staffing and or provide input for programming.
Be familiar with nursing home where client resides and agency safety and fire procedures.
Maintain Universal Precautions at all times.
Maintain all current certifications (First Aid, CPR, OSHA, etc.) as required.
CSS Academy Driving Duties
Drive agency van to transport participants between pickup points to various activities and destinations.
Ensure the safety of all participants under his/her supervision by following the agency policy and procedures.
Assist participants who require assistance on and off the van.
Secure participants who use wheelchairs in with the appropriate fastening method 5. Communicate with participants and/or families and staff in respectful manner.
Obey all state and local traffic laws.
Notify Supervisor immediately of problems.
Maintain van cleaning schedule.
Conduct a pre-trip and post trip safety inspection of the van prior to every trip and complete documentation.
Purchases groceries for Academy classes weekly.
Maintains cleaning schedule for Academy Kitchen.
Schedule, Full time-40 hours per week, Monday-Friday, 9:30 a.m. to 6:30 p.m.
The successful candidate must have:
High School diploma or GED equivalent required.
Vehicle with valid driver’s license and a clean driving record, within the last three years,
Candidate will receive Direct Support Professional (DSP), CPR & 1ST Aid training.
