We are fiscally sound with Foundation assets of over $24 million and Agency net assets of nearly $54 million. As a member of the Executive Leadership Team, the Chief Financial Officer (CFO) assumes a key strategic partnership in the overall management and evolution of the organization. The CFO will play a key role in developing, monitoring and evaluating overall agency strategy with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Chief Operations Officer (COO) with emphasis on pursuit of strategic growth initiatives, including mergers and acquisitions, working capital and enhancing sustainability and community impact.
Financial Reporting (60 percent):
Manages the preparation and communication of financial information on an accurate and timely basis
Oversees the preparation, analysis and communication of annual budgeting and capital spending needs
Has overall responsibility for internal financial controls, policies and procedures adequate to safeguard the organization’s assets, monitor the allocation of resources and manage expenditures
Complies with relevant financial regulations along with audit, legal and donor requirements
Develops direct and indirect staff by cross-training in Finance functions, exposure to program nuances and all levels of management which results in the ability to fulfill vacancies with qualified staff
Sustainability & Strategic Planning (20 percent):
Provides objective analysis of asset acquisitions, mergers, strategic alliances, joint ventures and asset sales
Responsible for all aspects of cash and debt management
Oversees and assures compliance with the agency’s Foundation investment objectives and a balanced use of these assets to support program and administration costs
Teams with program management and COO to provide meaningful analysis and recommendations to resolve programs with chronic deficits by setting meaningful steps towards sustainability
Other Responsibilities (20 percent):
Serves as executive liaison to the Audit and Finance Committees, Foundation and Board of Directors
Teams with Human Resources (HR) in oversight and negotiation of employee benefits programs in concert with the broker, insurer or advisor
Works closely with HR to evaluate compensation in conjunction with the annual budget process
In cooperation with the Technology Department, assesses risks associated with the IT/IS environment
Monitors and maintains all owned or leased facilities with respect to renovations and lease renewals with an eye on maintaining a comfortable and safe workplace
Partners with our broker to review and maintain adequate insurance coverage
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance and a Master of Business Administration degree is required.
A minimum of 10 years’ experience in financial administration and management is required.
Certified Public Accountant strongly preferred.
Familiarity with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) preferred.
Prior not-for-profit background a plus.
Demonstrated skills in leadership, collaboration, and relationship-building required.
Experience in managing facilities and risk management a plus.
