An Employment Specialist is responsible for supporting people to find and maintain employment by providing customized supports. The Employment Specialist also provides consultation to employers and co-workers at the job site to promote natural supports in the workplace. This position develops individual plans and other supporting documentation. Although caseloads vary, a typical caseload ranges from 15-25 individuals. The Employment Specialist is expected to uphold the Mission & Values of the Association and support people to achieve personal outcome measures.
Develop an Individual Employment Plan that customizes the search process.
Provide support and assistance to develop a current resume, cover letter, and other tools needed for the job search.
Provide job coaching to support people to learn job tasks.
Arrange transportation to and from employment locations.
Conduct initial intake meeting within 48 hours of case assignment, unless otherwise agreed upon by the Employment Services Coordinator or designee.
Document job seeking and job maintenance activities using the appropriate format.
High School Diploma /GED required.
Bachelors Degree preferred.
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Positive and upbeat personality is a must.
Must be at least 21 years of age.
Valid Illinois Driver's License.
1-2 years previous direct support job experience preferred.
Must clear and pass Healthcare Worker Registry Background checks
