Deborah's Place is seeking an experienced, organized, and detail oriented candidate to assist and maintain as a Accountant. The Accountant will work under the general direction of the Chief Financial Officer.
This position is responsible for financial record keeping including general ledger management and monthly financials preparation; banking; audit and budget preparation; assisting with property management reconciliation; management of government contracts, including budgeting, vouchering, reconciliation, and reporting functions; monitoring of accounts payable and accounts receivable processes.
Perform governmental contract functions including vouchering and reporting.
Prepare monthly grant analysis of expense spend down, monitors budget, submit vouchers for grant reimbursements.
Manage finance & budget components of government application processes. Compile documentation for government vouchers and maintain fund accounting records.
Review and prepare budgets revisions and other related reports for grants.
Prepare journal entries, and reconcile general ledger accounts.
Bank reconciliation and prepare monthly closings.
Prepare and distribute agency's monthly financial statements and budgets to directors and manager.
Assist with annual audit preparations and grant audits.
Supervise timely and accurate payments to vendors and accounts payable reconciliation.
Assist Chief Financial Officer with special projects.
Position Qualifications and Requirements
Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance or related field; Master Degree preferred. Experience working in nonprofit environment required. CPA or CPA designate preferred.
Five (5) years not-for-profit accounting experience including management of government contracts and vouchering (HUD, IDHS, DFSS); monthly financial statement preparation
Three (3) years of supervisory experience preferred.
Proficiency in accounting software (FundEz) and Microsoft Office ( Excel and Word).
Ability to work with minimum supervision.
Strong knowledge of fund/grant account and GAAP.
