We are a nonprofit senior retirement community in the Chicago area seeking candidates for our available Culinary Services Director position.
The Director of Culinary Services is responsible for providing a quality dining experience through excellent service to customers, motivating and developing staff, sustaining positive customer relations and managing expenses.
Works with Executive Chef to design unique programs within the menu cycle plan.
Initiate, coordinate and implement standards and procedures relating to food preparation and dining room service.
Oversee workload and coverage of kitchen and dining rooms.
Monitor receivables, payroll, staffing levels and inventories to meet annual budget goals.
Develop a positive rapport with customers and staff.
Diplomatically and effectively resolve customer and staff issues as they arise.
Ensure all staff abide by state and federal food preparation and service standards.
Minimum 5 years of experience in food service management and operations.
Previous experience in a supervisory role including interviewing, training, and coaching staff.
Experience with formal dining operations.
Strong culinary background including experience with menu development.
Strong working knowledge of food sanitation standards and practices.
Financial experience with budget development and budget execution
Strong analytical skills including the ability to interpret data and numbers
Experience working with vendors and contract compliance.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Ability to effectively interact with customers and respond to feedback.
Strong computer literacy: MS Office (Word and Excel), internet, and email
