The Behavioral Health Coordinator (BHC) plans, organizes, and directs the activities of the Behavioral Health Program at Alivio Medical Center. BHC is also responsible for the supervision, training, and evaluation of the behavioral health staff. Essential duties and responsibilities include:
Embraces and assures that Alivio Medical Center’s mission, goals, objectives, policies and procedures are implemented.
Responsible for hiring behavioral health staff in conjunction with the Medical Director. Works closely with the Medical Director and Human Resources to ensure all Behavioral Health staff are appropriately credentialed and privileged.
Responsible for supervising the Behavioral Health staff members’ clinical functions, schedules, productivity, placements, and any other related clinical/behavioral health and administrative duties. Responsible for developing analytical tools designed to improve the department’s clinical performance.
Provide 70% direct clinical work, which will include individual, family, and group counseling/psychotherapy.
Develop policies and procedures designed to guide Health Center’s behavioral health activities, ensuring that the Health Center operates in a consistent and high quality manner.
Communicate with providers and provide adequate information about the Behavioral Health program.
Prepare and implement the Behavioral Health section of the annual Health Care Plan and ensure that Alivio Medical Center accomplishes it objectives as identified in the plan.
Participates as a leader and manager in the implementation of the Health Center’s operating plans and objectives.
Participates in the Quality Assurance Committee of the Board and Peer Review & Credentialing Committee, as appropriate.
Adheres to Alivio’s Corporate Compliance Program and ensures compliance with standards, laws, and regulations as created by regulatory and accrediting organizations such as: BPHC, JCAHO, CLIA, OSHA, State and Federal Governments, etc.
Responsible for identifying the health care needs of the target population and incorporating those needs into program initiatives that meet the needs of the community.
Works closely with the Medical Director and CEO to ensure that all of the department’s standards of care are met.
Responsible for performing other duties as required to help Alivio Medical Center accomplish its mission.
Provide consultation and training to Primary Care and Behavioral Health Staff in enhancing, maintaining, and supporting Behavioral Health Programs. Promote chronic disease self management to prevent secondary complications and improve long term outcomes and enhance quality of life.
May participate with other agencies in supervision of trainees in Behavioral Health and disciplines (e.g. Medical students, MDs, CNM’s, RN’s, PA’s and FNP’s).
Develop best practice guidelines. Present outcomes to Executive Management and the Quality Assurance Committee of the Board annually.
Establish and maintain effective work relationships with other organizations
Attend trainings and workshops as required for professional development
Other related duties as assigned by supervisor.
MA or Doctorate in Clinical Psychology/Behavioral Health
Licensed in the State of Illinois
5 or more years of clinical practice
Must be bilingual – Spanish/English
Requires a comprehensive understanding of the behavioral health and related issues involved in providing clinical leadership at a Community Health Center.
Experience and demonstrated abilities for working in a multi-cultural setting.
Must be able to strongly embrace and personify the mission of Alivio Medical Center, through a holistic perspective, providing for the physical and emotional needs of patients.
Must be able to collaborate and interact with a diverse group of health care professionals.
Must be able to organize, direct, prioritizes, and delegate work appropriately.
Must possess excellent writing and analytical skills necessary for preparing financial, legal and administrative tasks.
