Haven Youth and Family Services has been a place of support for adolescents and their families along the North Shore of Chicago for nearly 40 years. Haven is a small non-profit mental health agency located in Wilmette. This position provides service in two main ares: outreach in a local school and providing direct service in the office, with the emphasis on direct service.
Provide short and long-term individual, family and group counseling in office and maintain records in compliance with state and local funding requirements
Provide support and crisis intervention services to area youth and their families
Assist with all other day-to-day functions in a small non-profit: some assistance with fundraising, general mission awareness-raising in the community, assisting directors in maintaining collaborative relationships with outside agencies and schools.
Periodic coverage of Haven's crisis line.
Provide informal support services to students at local schools
Provide referrals to other social service agencies and school social workers as needed
Assist with developing and presenting educational presentations workshops at local grade schools and high schools (ie, stress-reduction, body image, etc.)
Provide coverage for other school-based programs as requested by the Executive Director

Masters degree in social work, psychology, or a closely-related field.
LPC or LSW license in Illinois
Access to a vehicle, driver’s license and clean driving record
Ability to work well within a small non-profit team
Ability to cover on-call responsibilities, which could potentially mean providing linkage to emergency housing to area youth in emergency situations
Experience working with adolescents and families
Work schedule is negotiable. Roughly 20-30 hours a week, with some Saturday hours may be required
Interest and commitment to working for a non-profit
Some knowledge of school social work, IEPs, or a type 73 social work certification
Interest and ability to present in the community: parent workshops at Haven, to school staff, etc.
About Haven Youth and Family Services
Haven Youth and Family Services has been serving youth and their families along the North Shore of Chicago since 1976. Haven began as an outreach program for youth and has continued to grow and develop. Programs like crisis response and prevention activities were added, and more recently, the counseling program, which has become one of the largest components of service for the community. Today, Haven responds to many physical and emotional needs of youth including but not limited to emergency housing services, individual, group, and family therapy, 24-hour crisis intervention, daily outreach to area schools, psycho-educational workshops, youth boards, and service-learning opportunities.
