Camp counselors provide direct service to children with and without disabilities ages 5 – 22 years old. Each camp counselor works with a team of 5-7 counselors and 1 Activities Coordinator and 1 Site Supervisor in variety of outdoor and indoor settings. Camp counselors provide instructions and hand over hand support doing a variety of arts/crafts, indoor games/activities, outdoor games, playground, horsemanship lesson assistance, and pool assistance are required. Camp counselors must be comfortable supporting children in the pool. Camp counselors report directly to the Activities Coordinator and Site Supervisor. Gateway SRA summer day camp is an 8 week program, Monday through Friday from 9:15am- 3:45pm. Candidates must be available the ENTIRE WEEK of June 4 – 8 for orientation. The camp counselors maintain a safe and stimulating environment for campers the entire summer. Counselors are to focus on the needs of the campers daily with guidance from assigned the Activities Coordinator and Site Supervisor.
High School Diploma/GED required. 1-2years of job related experience preferred. Sitting or prolonged standing, excellent written and oral communication skills, work autonomously and productively, problem solver, team member and sound judgment. Lifting 75 pounds, working with arms over the shoulder, climbing kneeling bending pushing/pulling, carrying 50 pounds, walking 1mile, read and understand written information. Must be 17 or older.
