The Bus/Van Driver is responsible for transporting participants in the Cabrini Green, Uptown, North Lawndale, Washington Park and surrounding Communities from designated bus stops, home or school in a safe, positive manner. The Bus/Van Driver will also transport CYP oarticipants and staff to special field trips and activities.
Safe and responsible transport of youth, staff, parents, and volunteers for programs, trainings, events, and trips. Adhere to the highest standards of safety, including but not limited to: 1. No cell phone use of any kind while vehicle is in operation 2. Make sure all passengers are properly buckled into seat belts 3. Adhere to speed limits and all driving regulations on all roads 4. Driver is responsible for fees for all violations including red light, parking, toll booth, etc.
Complete daily vehicle inspection log and report any damage or maintenance needs to Operations Manager.
Refuel vehicles as needed.
Ensure cleanliness of vehicles before and after use. This includes no eating or smoking on any vehicle, for any reason.
Work in partnership with the Operations Manager, Program Manager, and other staff to ensure efficient routes.
CDL license with passenger or school bus endorsement
Driver must comply with all standards and policies of the Illinois Secretary of State to maintain driver's license credentials
Driver must notify Operations Manager and Program Manager at least 24 hours in advance in the event of absence
Must be timely and responsive
Must be an effective communicator with sound customer service practices
Must have prior experience driving groups of children, ages 4-18\
MUST be able to pass a state and federal fingerprinting check, DCFS Child Abuse and Neglect check, drug test, and Motor Vehicle Records check.
Additional Salary Information: Drivers are paid per route driven; rates are determined by distance/length of route.
