This position coordinates on-site event and activity volunteers, including training, placement, evaluation, and recognition. Supports overall volunteer department operations, including data management, long-range planning, communication, and recruitment.
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate and assign volunteers to on-site activities that match their interests and provide appropriate oversight and follow-up.
Work with Director of Volunteer Services & Community Engagement and Assistant Program Director/Program Coordinators to assure initial training as well as on-going support for all social activities volunteers.
Communicate with volunteers on a regular basis to encourage their efforts and expand their involvement.
Support other staff in coordinating activity volunteers as needed.
Holiday Volunteers – coordinate the recruitment of all holiday volunteers for all aspects of party, while ensuring that all of the volunteers have the tools they need to accomplish their assignments.
Participate in the development and achievement of annual departmental and individual goals.
Assist in Special Projects, as needed – including (but not limited to) attending regular volunteer orientations, recruiting volunteers for special projects, gathering and entering statistics for a determined set of volunteers, and making sure that computer files are updated.
Serve as liaison to teams, ad hoc committees, and operational committees.
Bachelor’s Degree or 3-5 years of relevant work experience.
Two years previous experience recruiting, training and managing volunteers.
Demonstrated experience creating and implementing volunteer opportunities that engage new volunteers and retain existing volunteers.
Creative problem solving skills, great attention to detail while maintaining excellent interpersonal relationships.
Ability to motivate volunteers while maintaining performance and integrity standards.
Demonstrated experience in relationship development and management.
Ability to work independently as well as on a team.
Excellent computer skills including word processing, database management, and Microsoft Office Suite.
Strong presentation, oral and written communications skills.
Flexibility in weekly work schedule to meet the needs of the department during peak times, including some Saturday/Sunday and evening work required.
Work two of three annual holidays (Thanksgiving/Christmas/Fête d’Armand Marquiset) through rotation.
Valid driver’s license
Spanish speaking a plus
