Reporting to the Board of Directors, the Kennedy Forum Illinois (KFI) Executive Director will have overall strategic and operational responsibility for The Kennedy Forum Illinois programs and annual national convening, financial resource development, organizational expansion, and staff. The Illinois Executive Director also serves as a member of the national Kennedy Forum team, collaborating on initiatives and events. The Executive Director of KFI is an individual with experience in health care policy – especially mental health and addiction, prowess in fund development, an effective convener, understands political systems, is a proven manager of staff and operational systems, is a proactive liaison to the board, and possesses excellent communications skills. Experience in Illinois is preferred. An applicant for KFI Executive Director is a person who can influence and inspire—able to awaken in others the desire to lead, motivate, and create a culture that is value-driven.
Advanced degree, ideally an MBA or MPA, strong senior management experience; record of accomplishment of effectively leading and scaling a performance- and outcomes-based organization and staff; ability to point to specific examples of having developed and operationalized strategies that have taken an organization to the next stage of growth
Unwavering commitment to quality programs and data-driven program evaluation
Excellence in organizational management with the ability to coach staff, manage, and develop high-performance teams, set, and achieve strategic objectives, and manage a budget
Past success working with a Board of Directors with the ability to cultivate existing board member relationships • Strong marketing, public relations, and fundraising experience with the ability to engage a wide range of stakeholders and cultures
Strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
Action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative approach to business planning
Ability to work effectively in collaboration with diverse groups of people
Telecommuting is allowed.
