The Executive Director delivers results that are consistent with the mission to build Illinois' hospitality workforce through career exploration, workforce development programs, and scholarships. The Educational Foundation prepares high school ProStart students studying Culinary Arts and Hospitality Management for college and career success in the Illinois foodservice industry. The Foundation administers the Illinois ProStart program which includes programming such as job readiness training, connections to industry experts and internships/jobs. The Foundation also provides scholarships for current and future college students pursuing Culinary Arts or Hospitality Management.
The Executive Director responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Governing the Board of Trustees to accomplish the mission of the Foundation.
Specifically, succession planning, leading committees, providing direction and planning Board Meetings
Driving Foundation revenue growth through: sponsorship, fundraising, charity events and school agreements
Strong fiscal management of the Foundation P&L, as well as budget planning
Securing and sustaining funding for the Scholarship Program through identification and cultivation of private and/or corporate donors, endowments and planned giving.
Managing the Scholarship Program including the process of student recruitment, reviewer recruitment, awarding scholarships and implementation of the scholarship portal and Scholarship Award Luncheon.
Managing a ProStart Program Manager that is the primary interface with teachers and implements programming.
Management/oversight communications to teachers, industry partners and sponsors/donors
Developing partnerships with industry to secure in-kind donations for program implementation
Oversight of implementation for the ProStart Program
Manage relationship with CPS and quarterly reporting on contract deliverables
Secure contracts with schools in Chicagoland as well as state wide
Execute all aspects of the annual ProStart Student Invitational competition at McCormick Place to include two competitions (culinary and management), College/Career Fair and Demo Stage
Identify employer partners that support programming (Job Shadow Day/Internships) to help students develop the appropriate skill set to succeed
Create internship opportunities for ProStart students
Identify opportunities to connect students with industry (events, symposiums, NRA Show, etc.)
Provide a full day Teacher Workshop to review annual ProStart program plans and trends in the industry
Ability to manage time efficiently, work independently, multi-task and perform well under pressure
Ability to effectively problem solve and positively collaborate with others
Highly organized and resourceful; solutions oriented
Excellent Communication skills – both verbal and written
Excellent interpersonal skills
Knowledge of Food Service/Hospitality Industry, Association history and services
Advanced Microsoft Office product knowledge – Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
