Love INC's mission is to mobilize churches to transform lives and communities in the Name of Christ. The Executive Director role provides leadership and builds relationships to achieve the mission. This includes developing and implementing strategic goals and objectives as well as day-to-day management of the ministry. The position works closely with the Board of Directors and office staff and interacts regularly with church leaders, volunteers, and community agencies. The role reports to the Love INC of Lake County Board of Directors, with a dotted line to Love INC National.
The position is full time, with time shared between regular Love INC of Lake County office hours and other Saturday or weekday evening times, as driven by ministry needs.
Oversee the day to day general operations of Love INC of Lake County
Exhibit spiritual maturity, integrity, and a commitment to personal transformation
Effectively manage human resources (volunteers and staff), ensuring sound administrative practices, human resource management, personnel policies and procedures
Oversee financial operations and risk management practices
Prudently manage all resources within budget guidelines according to current Illinois laws and regulation
Participate with the Board of Directors in developing and implementing an annual operating plan and strategic fundraising plan
Prepare and present an annual budget to the Board of Directors for approval
Oversee development and implementation of communication, marketing and promotional strategies
Serve as the affiliate’s primary liaison with the Love INC National Movement
Ensure Love INC of Lake County is committed to the Love INC National Movement’s missional integrity and affiliate key performance indicators
Build relationships to support the ministry and mobilize local churches to serve
Be the primary face of Love INC and the champion of the Love INC mission to churches, agencies, donors and the community as a whole
Build strong relationships in and with the Board of Directors
Support the operation and administration of the board by advising and informing board members of ministry accomplishments, activities and issues
Build strong relationships with our partner churches
Develop a oneness of mind and heart to work together to meet the needs of those in need in Lake County
Meet with partner church pastors and leaders on a regular basis to continually strengthen their understanding and ownership of their vital role in the ministry of Love INC and to learn about needs within their congregations
Grow the number of partner churches to ensure Love INC of Lake County is meeting the expectations in the areas of need.
Build strong relationships with local agencies
Participate in community partnerships (ie: Alliance for Human Services) to ensure community clearly understands the mission of Love INC and to foster cooperation between local agencies and our partner churches
Bring the love of Jesus to these agencies, be a member of good standing to those outside the Christian faith
Oversee Clearinghouse, Gap Ministries, and other ministries of Love INC to transform lives and communities, In the Name of Christ
Oversee the development, delivery, and quality of all Love INC programs, services, and initiatives
Ensure the ministries are serving with excellence in Christ
Lead staff and church leaders in developing new ministries and programs, ensuring they are serving in the Love INC way
Oversee the recruiting and mobilization of volunteers from partner churches to respond to the needs of people assessed by Love INC, including board members, CMCs, Clearinghouse servants, etc.
Other duties as assigned by the Board of Directors
Personal relationship with Jesus Christ and in agreement with the Apostles’ Creed, Statement of Standard, and Who We Serve
Comfortable praying with people and leading a team in prayer
Strong commitment to the Church and its mandate to serve the poor
Prior non-profit experience (preferred)
Active member/attendee of local church
Strong leadership skills (mid “D” on the DISC profile)
Minimum three years of leadership experience
Experience leading both paid staff and volunteers
Solid interpersonal skills, with demonstrated ability for self-improvement
Ability to lead in a growing and changing environment
Ability to manage multiple priorities effectively under pressure
Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including public speaking
Experience fund-raising and willingness to ask for donations
Strong office skills:
Strong organizational abilities
Above average knowledge of Microsoft Office (especially Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Access)
Interest & ability to master other software that may be implemented to support the ministry
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in management, social work, organizational leadership, ministry, community development, or related field
Ability to maintain healthy, professional boundaries
