To supervise and provide mentoring to the occupational therapy team to reflect evidence-based and best practices and exemplary services; to provide comprehensive assessment of a child and family’s abilities and needs and evaluate the impact of the environment on a child’s performance; and provide family-centered occupational therapy services that result in the best possible improvement of participation in daily activities that enhance each child’s developmental skills, processing and overall learning.
Supervise and mentor other occupational therapists in regards to completing evaluations, developing goals/objectives, planning intervention strategies and measuring outcomes.
Conduct annual Talent Development Reviews for occupational therapy team members and participate in the interviewing and hiring process for open positions.
Coordinate and lead occupational therapy team meetings.
Collaborate with other discipline team leaders to promote team morale and consistent communication
Provide guidance regarding caseloads, anticipating openings and meeting current billing requirements.
Complete comprehensive evaluations, make recommendations, write and measure goals and outcomes and provide occupational therapy for children as assigned.
Write accurate and thorough documentation including, evaluation reports, progress summaries, and daily progress notes for children assigned.
Integrate parents, family members and key caregivers into all aspects of the provision of services.
Provide parent/family education for optimal follow through on therapy activities.
Maintain communication with team members, parents, physicians, outside agencies, and others regarding program/treatment changes, children’s needs and progress.
Serve as team leader for each child, as assigned.
Provide in-service training for parents/caregivers and staff regarding evidence-based practice, research and trends in occupational therapy.
Complete required paperwork as assigned.
Assist staff with outreach development and community education projects, as requested.
Work cooperatively with Child and Family Connections Offices.
Ensure that authorizations for services are received and accurate prior to the initiation of services.
Complete billing in a timely and accurate manner.
Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
MS in Occupational Therapy or OTD
Licensed Occupational Therapist in the State of Illinois
Current Registration with NBCOT
Early Intervention credentials
Minimum of three (3) years professional clinical experience
Previous supervisory experience preferred, but not required
