The Salvation Army is seeking a visionary, strategic and dynamic development executive who will provide leadership to the Community Relations and Development staff of the Central Territory. The Territorial Executive Director of Development acts as the resource, educator, in-house counsel and advisor to the leadership in the 10 divisions of the territory, providing consultation on best practices, as well as setting measurable goals and objectives.
This is a rare opportunity for an exceptional development strategist to lead and ensure that the Army’s fundraising teams have the resources and tools needed to best serve their regions and increase revenue, and to energize a team supporting multi-faceted fundraising operations making a profound impact.

Specific Requirements Include:
Passion for The Salvation Army’s mission coupled with a strong commitment to know and understand the Army’s history, mission and structure, as well as its services, policies and procedures.
A minimum of 15 years of progressive experience in development and community relations. At least 7 years in a role at the executive management level. Experience coordinating effort across geographically disparate locations is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree required. Advanced degree and professional certification highly preferred.
Strong communication skills, with a proven ability to use “influence without authority”.
Familiarity with all facets of development, including direct mail, major gifts, planned giving, endowments and capital campaigns.
Track record of success in professional training and leadership development, ideally providing training in practical fundraising matters. Comfort with digital education platforms is preferred.
Demonstrated ability to build and facilitate communication amongst a geographically dispersed team of development professionals.
