The American Medical Association (AMA) is committed to advancing physician professionalism through ethics research, education, and policy setting, and is seeking an individual who would thrive working at the nation's largest physician organization. The Senior Research Associate will assist the Vice President of Ethics in the development of key projects on topics such as promoting health equity for all. This individual will also support the development of educational offerings in the AMA Journal of Ethics and conduct analyses that contribute to the regular updating of the AMA Code of Medical Ethics.
Master’s Degree required in a bioethics-related field, with a good track record of first authored peer-reviewed publications in ethics.
Minimum 4 years’ experience of social science, healthcare, or relevant research experience in academic, government, corporate or non-profit setting preferred.
Significant experience working on collaborative projects that involve internal and external stakeholders.
Strong project management skills and attention to detail
Exceptional writing and analytical skills. Experience in the following preferred: ability to conceptualize and synthesize literature, offer key insights, data mining, business intelligence and organizing and translating data.
Outstanding interpersonal and verbal communication skills with a creative hands-on orientation. Must have proven ability to present clear and cogent arguments.
Demonstrated ability to balance work on multiple short-term projects requiring rapid responses with work on long-term projects.
Demonstrated ability to function effectively in a team environment as well as be a strong individual contributor.
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications; highly proficient in Excel and PowerPoint. Proficiency in Adobe Pro preferred.
Flexible to work extended hours including weekends. Some travel might be required.
