An opportunity is available for a resourceful professional to provide information and assistance to older adults and people with disabilities seeking community resources
Located in Oak Park, Illinois, AgeOptions innovates, partners, and advocates to improve systems and services in order to strengthen communities so people thrive as they age. Through telephone communications, assess the needs and capacities of the individual, answer questions and/or provide information on services or community resources, which meet the caller’s expressed need.
Conduct research necessary to answer specific questions or requests and to expand resource database
Link callers to available opportunities and services
Send appropriate materials to callers via email or postal mail as needed services.
Conduct follow-up activities, as needed, to ensure callers received the information or assistance they needed
Respond to calls, letters, emails, or office visits from older persons, people with disabilities, caregivers, public officials, and service providers related to Information and Assistance services
Conduct internal training to others who provide information and assistance
Database management and quality assurance
Reporting and grant related activities
Conduct outreach and education to older adults, people with disabilities and the professionals who serve them
Supervise departmental interns
One year experience in gerontology and social services or related area
Bilingual in Spanish preferred
Ability to deal effectively with clients from a wide range of backgrounds.
Manage multiple priorities.
Communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing.
Knowledge of/ability to learn programs and benefits for seniors including Older Americans Act services, Medicare, and public benefits.
Knowledge of databases and office software.
Strong skills in oral and written presentations to groups, organizations and public officials.
Experience in public speaking and training.
