The Manager of Parent & Family Services oversees parent engagement and family support services in accordance with Head Start Program Performance Standards, the Illinois State Board of Education (ISBE) and the Department of Children and Family Services (DCFS). As the Manager of Parent and Family Services, you will ensure that policy and procedures are properly applied and interpreted by Family Support Staff, and work with parents, staff, and others in the design and implementation of an overall parent engagement approach, education plan, and curriculum.
Oversee the Family Support Program; monitor for service quality and effective referral/follow-up practices.
Provide supervision and coaching to Family Support Supervisors; responsible for hiring, training, and evaluating assigned Supervisors as needed.
Assist in the development and evaluation of planning and monitoring activities, program policies and procedures, and curriculum for pregnant women, infants, toddlers, and preschool children.
Ensure integration of the Head Start Parent, Family and Community Engagement (PFCE) framework and Illinois Learning/Early Learning Standards into overall program curricula as well as Kindergarten Readiness Goals.
Coordinate referrals and intake with other internal and external programs and supervisors
Monitor enrollment and client participation.
Participate in community and program outreach events to promote the program and recruit eligible families.
Work closely with the Education Manager and Home-Based Manager to monitor transition activities for children and families transferring between programs, as well as for those transitioning to kindergarten.
Coordinate implementation of Parenting Curriculum across Metro Chicago/suburb program sites.
Maintain a working knowledge of community resources to assist Family Support Specialists in meeting client needs.
Collect and monitor program data and make recommendations for continuous quality improvement.
Participate in the development and management of the program budget, including monitoring and approving program expenses, inventory control, purchasing of all supplies and equipment, and fiscal reporting.
Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related field required; Master’s Degree preferred.
Five years’ experience working in Early Childhood programs.
Three years’ experience working in Early Head Start/Head Start required, preferably in Family Support or related role.
Three years’ experience in a supervisory or management role in a Head Start or Early Head Start Program.
Bilingual (English/Spanish) preferred.
Experience managing community outreach and client recruitment efforts a plus.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Close attention to detail and ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
Valid driver’s license, insurance, and a reliable vehicle required.
