The YWCA of Metropolitan Chicago, a 21st Century, business-savvy, social enterprise committed to “Eliminating Racism and Empowering Women,” is seeking a Volunteer Specialist for the YWCA Early Childhood Services – Project HELP Program, located at our Project HELP location at 1815 W. Diehl Rd in Naperville, IL. This is a full-time reporting to the Director of Child & Family Development -Project HELP. Salary is commensurate with experience.
Recruit, train, and oversee volunteer parent mentors and general volunteers
Coordinate and facilitate monthly mentor nights, parent education workshops/trainings
Act as Project HELP’s community representative and conduct outreach through community events and coalitions
Complete phone intakes with families
Data collection, management of files and necessary paperwork
Manage a caseload of 15 families in the Parent Mentor Program annually
Degree in Social Work, Education, Early Childhood or the equivalent or related experience in the field of early childhood.
Professional Training Requirements: National Exchange Club Parent Aide Model.
Bilingual preferred: both conversational and written fluency in Spanish with cultural competency and proficiency in Spanish and English.
Minimum of three years of case management, home visiting experience, or work with at-risk families, preferred.
Ability to effectively present information in public and in small and large group settings.
Ability to work with economically, ethnically, and culturally diverse populations.
Possess a strong knowledge of and commitment to a teamwork approach.
Must provide evidence of reliable and insured transportation.
Ability to climb stairs and ambulated in and out of locations in all weather.
Have the ability to lift up to 15 pounds.
Availability on nights and weekends when needed
