Under the leadership of the Manager of Health Care Access and directly reporting to the Health Care Choices Coordinator, the Training Specialist is a key part of the Health Care Choices team. This position will serve an important role in the expansion of our fee for service presentations and will prepare and conduct presentations at AgeOptions training events. This position will also provide technical assistance to healthcare professionals.
Develops content and conducts presentations on Medicare & Medicaid benefits to professionals at AgeOptions training events and responds to questions during and after events. Acts as lead presenter at monthly fee-for-service Medicare & Medicaid Basics Seminars and other fee-for-service presentations.
Develops content and gives presentations as needed on health care topics to community groups, including older adults, people with disabilities, and professionals who serve them. Responds to questions during and after events. Conducts outreach, leads focus groups, and gives presentations to consumers and professionals regarding the Medicare Medicaid Alignment Program throughout Cook County.
Provides technical assistance to healthcare professionals regarding complex healthcare coverage issues. Acts as designated point person by providing follow-up technical assistance regarding the Medicare Medicaid Alignment Program throughout Cook County.
Identifies trends in barriers to care within the Medicare & Medicaid system.
Creates & prepares reference materials on Medicare & Medicaid related topics for consumers and the professionals who serve them.
Prepares presentations & training materials for Health Care Choices Training events.
Edits presentations and training materials for one-day seminars & 60-90 minute presentations to best suit each audience.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Bachelor's Degree in a related field.
2 to 5 years work experience in healthcare benefits, specifically Medicare/Medicaid.
2 to 3 years training experience
Demonstrated experience in developing and delivering training programs.
Previous experience in event planning a plus.
Ability to take complicated materials and consolidate them for basic audience appeal.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office software, including Outlook, Excel and Word
Strong interpersonal skills.
Ability to travel locally (within Cook County) up to 25%.
