Oversees the delivery of Adult Education instruction at 3 to 5 college sites following the college’s, IWE’s, and grantor’s requirements. Manages the delivery of a comprehensive set of support and incentive services to adult education students. Ensures the successful bridging/transitioning of adult education students to the college’s academic and workforce programs. Coordinates with other college and IWE departments to ensure that services are provided to adult education students and academic students and that tracking of outcomes is performed.
Summary of Essential Job Duties:
Develops Adult Education programming based on state and national standards, and best practices to address student needs.
Oversees the delivery of career and transfer services provided by the Career and Transfer Center (CTC)
Develops processes and procedures for the delivery of instruction services according to college’s, Institute’s, and grantor’s requirements.
Develops and executes the unit’s outreach strategy including the use of the college’s mass media reach, organic and geographically based practices, and the development of relationships with community, workforce, and public partners.
Assesses the professional development needs of Adult Education staff including the creation and execution of an annual professional development plan.
Oversees the delivery of intensive support services to Adult Education students along with services for the St. Augustine College academic students through the Career and Transfer Center (CTC).
Oversees the implementation of transition/bridging strategies and programs, including the Career Pathway and Incentive programs, to ensure the highest transition rates among Adult Education students.
Develops a network of relationships with adult education stakeholders at the federal, state and local levels by attending meetings, conferences, and other convocations to learn about the latest best practices in the field.
Supervises and coaches program coordinators, transition and adult education specialists, instructors and other adult education staff to effectively deliver services, and evaluates their performance following the college’s system performance management system.
Coordinates with other departments (Support Services, Business Office, Financial Aid, Marketing, Admissions Office, among others) to ensure that high quality and timely services are delivered to adult education students.
Ensures that program data is entered, accurately and in a timely manner, into IWE’s database and grantor proprietary applications.
Oversee the program’s improvement plan and calls and participates in process/program improvement meetings where the program’s reports and data are used for decision making.
Issues reports as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Master’s degree in education or related field with a minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in the design, delivery, and management of adult education programs. Minimum of 5 years of experience managing and supervising staff (preferably in an educational setting).
Intermediate to advanced skills in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Outlook.
Ability to cultivate and maintain relationships with students, colleagues, employers, and other organizations.
Experience in managing and directing a diversified work staff. Must be able to handle all situations with tact, persuasiveness, and diplomacy.
Self-directed and innovative, and able to assess current operations in an effort to improve them. Ability to meet deadlines in a timely manner and to work under pressure with multiple projects and tasks.
Sensitivity to socially and ethnically diverse communities.
Highly developed analytical and problem solving/decision making skills, and good writing and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish (preferred).
