The House Manager supervises the home, executes all aspects of the home's dining program and provides a congenial atmosphere for residents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Communicates with administration on all matters pertaining to residents’ well-being.
Communicates with administration on all house matters including house budgets, expenses and needs.
Adheres to medical emergency and non-medical emergency procedures and provides incident reports as outlined in Handbook for House Managers.
Maintains a complete record of all household expenses.
Works with registered dietician and plans a balanced diet and provides three nutritious and appealing meals a day.
Purchases groceries based on sound, economical meal planning and transports groceries to residence locations.
Provides opportunities for residents to plan and be involved in decisions about menus.
Provides opportunities for and encourages the residents to share in daily/weekly tasks which shall be performed to maintain a clean and neat home.
Performs housekeeping daily to maintain a high standard of order and cleanliness.
Coordinates with residents and volunteers to provide opportunities for socializing and physical activities for the residents.
Notifies the office staff when home maintenance and repairs are needed.
If requested by residents, launders residents’ linens weekly and assists with linen replacements on bed when needed.
Additional duties as assigned.
Prefer Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in psychology, human services, home economics, gerontology, social work, related fields, or equivalent combination of personal skills developed through training and/or experience.
Strong management and organizational skills.
Enjoys working with independent seniors.
Good homemaking and hospitality skills, especially in food preparation and service of meals.
A sense of humor, patience and sensitivity to the needs of the aging.
Good physical and mental health.
Able to lift at least 25 lbs. and walk up and down stairs carrying groceries or laundry.
Practice good personal hygiene and health habits; e.g., thorough hand washing before handling food and after washroom visits.
Additional Salary Information: The hours are 11 to 7.
