Reports to: Vice President for Finance & Administration

The Human Resources Associate has the full responsibility for executing Human Resources tasks on behalf of the Merit School of Music.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Administer the entire process of filling job vacancies from the initial posting through scheduling interviews and follow-up with all applicants
Collect and organize paperwork for new hires, including the creation of personal files and update all systems in preparation for a new employee’s first day (i.e. oversee setting up email, computers, offices, etc.)
Process background checks internally, update list, monitor invoices for payment
Collect and organize paperwork to enroll newly eligible employees, changes for qualifying in benefits for coverage
401(k) Plan Administration including annual notices, verifying and submitting, serving as the point of contact for questions and disputes
Oversee the Semi-monthly payroll process
Update deductions in payroll system as needed for changes in: benefits, taxes, tuition payments, 401(k) elections
Annual Faculty Sub-List Review
Coordinate the Open Enrollment Process
Maintain accurate employee lists
Respond to HR inquiries regarding: benefits, employment verifications, unemployment claims, open positions/hiring
Work with VP to assess best practices and create documented procedures.
Work with the Employee Appreciation Committee to:
Asses best practices and create documented procedures for employment anniversaries, employee recognition, and birthday recognition
Organize monthly events for staff, including the annual holiday party
Coordinate the Employee of the Quarter
Coordinate Wellness Initiatives
Assist Vice President for Finance & Administration in various duties and projects as assigned.
