The Manager of Development supports the Midwestern University Downers Grove Campus Development & Alumni Relations efforts. This position reports to the Assistant Director of Development and Alumni Relations and is responsible for securing donations for scholarships, community partnerships, University events and special projects, as well as stewardship of current donors.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Oversee annual fund and other University and/or College appeals.
Develop fund-raising initiatives among corporate, alumni and other individual constituents.
Cultivate, solicit and steward a portfolio of leadership donors annually.
Assist in identifying prospects for planned and major gifts.
Responsible for writing appeal letters and some proposals requesting philanthropic support for community partnerships.
15%-20% travel will be required to make prospect visits and attend alumni conferences.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.

Education and/or Experience
Bachelor’s degree in business, education or the liberal arts; master’s degree and/or specialized professional training preferred. Minimum of three years’ experience in Development/Fundraising Public Relations, Corporate Relations, or Alumni Relations. Prior experience in Higher Education or Health Care is preferred. Other requirements include: Understanding of principles of fund-raising and alumni relations programming; Public relations and community relations abilities; Professionalism in interacting with internal and external publics; exceptional communication skills, both written and oral; ability to develop and maintain positive relationships with a variety of constituents.
Computer proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook).
