General Description The Licensing Specialist is responsible for recruiting, assessing, training and licensing prospective foster care parents.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities Position-Specific
Demonstrates agency clinical philosophy in all aspects of program activities. Carries out recruitment activities as defined in the foster care Recruitment Plan. Screens foster family applications and conducts initial home visits to determine if prospective families meet minimum licensing and agency standards to continue licensing process. Completes licensing process, including thorough assessment and quality Home Study for families meeting agency specialized foster care standards. Registers families for PRIDE training. Ensures completion and storing of all required licensing documentation, as identified in DCFS Rule/Procedure 402. Schedules, manages and tracks ongoing foster care parent training. Conducts and documents thorough, on-time licensing compliance visits as assigned. Investigates and documents licensing complaints as assigned. Collaborates with foster care and adoption teams to ensure accurate listing of addresses, phone numbers, capacity, household members and background check compliance. Maintains an accurate listing of available foster home capacity by age, special needs, etc. which can be accommodated. Maintains an accurate household listing for use in Placement Clearance process. Coordinates with foster care teams and foster care parents on child matching and pre-placement activities. Assists in the development and implementation of the Foster Parent Law Implementation Plan. Participates in the development, modification and implementation of the Foster Parent Manual. Demonstrates a working knowledge of DCFS Rule/Procedure 402. Performs other duties as assigned by the Recruitment, Licensing and Intake Supervisor.
Educational Requirements/General Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social work or social service related field required; Master’s degree preferred; LCPC or LCSW preference
Minimum of two (2) years of social service experience required; experience in recruitment, family assessment or licensing preferred
Excellent interpersonal, organizational and time management skills required
Microsoft Office skills required
Full time use of minimally insured, operating automobile and valid driver’s license required
