The American Academy of Pediatrics, the nation’s leading advocacy organization for children’s healthcare, is seeking a part-time (22.5 hours per week) professional to provide project management and coordination of activities related to assigned components of the Bright Futures National Center (BFNC), including the identification and development of educational and implementation resources/materials for specific topic areas for diverse populations. Manage the integration of BF into academic training programs. Assist in the completion of goals, objectives, activities, and work plans of the BFNC as assigned.
Duties include: 1. Manage the development of assigned educational and implementation projects and programs incorporating BF resources/materials and health promotion themes (eg, promoting healthy weight, mental health, oral health) through the development and design of resources/materials and other methods for use in diverse populations. 2. Manage BF integration/implementation into academic training programs including conducting needs assessments, developing and promoting materials and implementation strategies, and convening appropriate workgroups to design, review, and promote materials. 3. Monitor trends and developments in resident education and training programs and provide technical assistance to residents and other health care professionals. 4. Manage the development of a BF Pedialink module. 5. Develop and maintain a page/section of the BF Web site dedicated to academic training programs. 6. Oversee the work of the subcontractors and consultants on project relevant to assigned topic area. 7. Coordinate and assist AAP staff on BF activities related to specific high priority health issues (eg, healthy weight, mental health, substance use, oral health). 8. Work with and assist in staffing the BF Advisory Committees, Workgroups, and Implementation Networks, and other national partners as relevant to topic area. 9. Provide technical assistance to and respond to inquiries from BF partner organizations, health professionals, families, communities, state and federal entities, AAP members, AAP chapters, committees and sections, and sponsors related to program activities relevant to assigned topic area. 10. Coordinate the revisions of BF resources, including writing, reviewing, and editing drafts relevant to assigned topic areas and target audiences (eg, public health, early child care professionals, health care professionals). 11. Assist in preparing and monitoring the BF annual operating budget, and developing the annual continuation applications and all other reports required by the MCHB and the AAP. Assist in the contract procurement process.

Qualifications: 1. Bachelor’s degree in health administration, public health, education, nursing, or a related discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education and work experience. Master’s degree preferred. 2. At least three years’ experience in public health program management, including educational program development, technical writing and/or editing, and managing budgets. Experience working with child health care issues and grants management strongly preferred. Association management or national advocacy organization experience helpful. Some travel and weekend work required.
