Provides bilingual/bicultural assistance to victims of domestic violence and their families through walk-ins and/or call-ins.
Counsels new and on-going clients while assessing the cases and obtaining help for the victim through program services, information, linkages, and referrals.
Provides short-term counseling of at least 10-12 sessions to each client in on-going caseload and follows up by coordinating services and providing advocacy with other providers.
Advocates on behalf of Latinas through participation in advisory groups and other coalitions that focus on the issue of domestic violence.
Completes service reports as required by contract with the Attorney General and other funders.
Maintains client records, completes intake forms and records all contacts made with client or on behalf of client.
Recruits for and facilitates a weekly support group for victims of domestic violence through an approved curriculum (i.e. addresses issues that arise. Secure speakers on special topics. Refer clients to other services as needed, etc.)
Participates in staff training sessions, in-services, staff meetings, and professional group seminars or conferences to increase professional knowledge and enhance job skills.
Other tasks as assigned by the DV Coordinator.
Bilingual, Bicultural (Spanish/English), Bachelor’s Degree in social work required or related field. Effective interpersonal skills. Certified Domestic Violence Professional preferred.
