A Chicago-based non-profit agency provides homeless and disabled individuals and families in Chicago with single room occupancy (SRO) housing and case management supportive services. We intend to expand affordable housing availability for single adults with an emphasis on Single Room Occupancy (SRO) properties through acquisition and new construction in Chicago and the suburbs. The Special Projects Coordinator is a permanent, full-time position, with an office near the Village of Oak Park.
Ability to work effectively and directly with the Executive Director and the Programs Director
Research and initiate new projects and properties towards expansion to house formerly homeless, disabled and low income adults and families
Identify and secure financing for new initiatives/acquisitions
Job Duties and Responsibilities:
Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and the Programs Directors
Conduct research to identify new opportunities for programs and projects
Support office administration, including phone system, office supplies management
Human Resource, including personnel activities, recruiting, hiring, orientation and training, and file retention.
Assist with and participate in Board Meeting preparation
Desired Skills and Qualifications:
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher
Strong data and file management skills
Willingness to learn a variety of organizational functions
Excellent written and oral communication skills.
Experience with grant proposals/writing is a plus.
Strong organizational/project management skills with attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to be a collaborative team player and to work independently with self-direction
Consistent use of good judgment and discretion
Knowledge of private and/or nonprofit business operations, homelessness and affordable housing is helpful.
