The Associate Director of Development, Foundation Relations has responsibilities for creating and nurturing mutually beneficial relationships between DePaul and its Foundation partners and donors at the major gift level. Key duties include correspondence, calls and face-to-face meetings to qualify, cultivate, solicit, and steward Foundation support; ensuring that grant proposals are researched, written and submitted in a timely manner. The Associate Director, Foundation Relations will be responsible for soliciting Foundation support at the major gift level
Responsibilities & Duties
Foundation Major Gift Cultivation and Solicitations:
Establishes and manage a portfolio of prospects for Foundation Relations assigned to university funding priorities, faculty research, centers and projects of the University, working in close conjunction with the Senior Director.
Identifies, cultivates and solicits Foundations for partnerships and philanthropic support.
Provides effective coordination of activities including campus visits.
Responsible for identifying Foundations, developing and proposing strategies for the cultivation of major Foundations.
Determines specific purpose and level of partnership and identifies those to be involved in cultivation and subsequent solicitation.
Effectively represents the Foundation and enhances collaborative relationships with colleges, departments, faculty and college development officers soliciting gifts from Foundations.
Maintains an effective program of stewardship of Foundation partners.
Works with the senior director to establish Foundation fund raising priorities.
Maintains strong and regular contact with the Foundation community.
Works closely with development officers, faculty members and/or volunteers to determine appropriate approach.
Assists in the preparation of Foundation grant proposals.
Develop Foundation Partnerships:
Participates in university initiatives and external networks that align and strengthen Foundation partnerships.
Information Management and Analysis:
Supervises prospect tracking systems related to Foundation Relations, letter of intents and grant proposals.
Provides status reports to the senior director.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education & Experience
3 to 5 years of fund-raising experience.
Demonstrated experience in development, volunteer and project management
Other Skills & Abilities Required
Strong organizational and analytical skills.
Excellent oral and written skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Experience with databases, data structure and word processing and spreadsheet software.
Ability to do in-depth research and follow-up.
Familiarity with CASE and FASB accounting principles and an understanding of mathematical concepts.
Familiarity with IRS regulation 526 regarding charitable giving.
Some evenings and weekends required
