The Clinical Therapist will provide individual and group therapy to HIV positive individuals and their families to address issues related to their medical status. The Licensed Clinical Therapist will assess all new primary care patients and offer on-going counseling services. The Clinical therapist will maintain confidential records/chart notes in the electronic medical record. The Clinical therapist will provide summary information to case managers, medical provider, and Early Intervention Services staff where appropriate, especially during multidisciplinary case conferences. The Clinical Therapist will make referrals as appropriate for psychiatric assessments. The Clinical Therapist will also complete reports and paperwork as needed for the projects scopes of services and quality improvement projects.
Provide initial assessment for clients with HIV diagnosis who receive funded Part A and MAI services.
Provide on-going individual counseling as needed.
Oversee peer facilitated HIV positive psychosocial support group.
Maintain HIV positive therapeutic groups for male and female clients.
Establish and oversee support group for those highly vulnerable to HIV.
Provide summaries to multidisciplinary team where appropriate.
Participate in case conference.
Refer clients to psychiatrist as appropriate.
Screen clients for substance abuse and make referrals for treatment.
Supervise and oversee Austin CBC Initiative Outpatient Substance Abuse program and CADC staff.
Document services in CareWare, Cerner, and required CDPH forms
Provide data for submission of monthly, quarterly and yearly CDPH reports.
Participate in CDPH Learning Collaborative meetings
LCSW preferred, LCPC required with a Master’s degree in clinical counseling or related mental health service; working knowledge of HIV and related issues. Knowledge of target populations and related issues preferred. Must have experience facilitating group and individual counseling sessions. Ability to function autonomously as a mental health clinician, commitment to confidentiality, ethics and a culturally sensitive approach to counseling is required. Excellent written and verbal skills are required. Must have an intermediate knowledge of Microsoft suites and good record keeping abilities.
