As the fiscal agent for the Cook County Health and Hospitals System (CCHHS) Family Planning Program, Hektoen Institute of Medicine’s mission is to improve the care of the sick by supporting programs that enhance patient care and extend the boundaries of knowledge through education and research. The Data Specialist would work within CCHHS, whose mission is to serve as the primary provider and facilitator of healthcare for the underserved: Medicaid patients, low-income Medicare recipients and the uninsured. The CCHHS is the safety net for health care in Chicago and suburban Cook County.
Accurate data entry of patient demographic information and medical services in the AHLERS system.
Responsible for monthly billing procedures in the AHLERS system.
Ability to interpret and analyze electronic medical records.
Verify accurate data entry of patient demographic information, including verifying health insurance plans, and assigning appropriate diagnostic and procedure codes for outpatient records.
Assist patients with Medicaid enrollment application process
Maintaining proof of eligibility files
Maintain data collection and quarterly report submission
Ability to assist with other clerical duties, including but not limited to registering and scheduling patients.
Responsible for compliance with grant program and any other institutional policies.
Accepts other duties as assigned by System-wide Family Planning Administrator, Title X Clinical Administrator or System Chair.
High school graduate or GED equivalent required.
Knowledge of basic computer operations.
Excellent communications skills with the ability to positively interact with public and peers.
