Math Circles of Chicago (MC²) provides high quality, free math enrichment to children across Chicago. Since its founding in 2011, MC² has served over 2,000 students in grades 5-12 who came from over 150 schools. As part of MC²’s strategic plan to double the number of students it serves and reach more underserved communities, it seeks a Development Manager to partner with the Executive Director and Board to secure the resources needed for expansion and continued improvement.
This is a half-time, virtual position (approximately 20 hours/week) with an expected salary of approximately $35 per hour, with the potential to grow into a larger role in the future. At the moment, no additional benefits will be provided.
The Development Manager’s primary responsibilities will include:
Individual, Corporate, and Foundation Donor Cultivation and Stewardship
Work with Executive Director and Board of Directors to grow organizational budget by expanding donor base and stewarding current donors across all areas of giving
Update and expand multi-year fundraising plan with input from all stakeholders
Execute or support all appeals, peer-to-peer giving campaigns, and mailings
Segment, develop, and implement acquisition, solicitation, and stewardship for individual and corporate donors
Design, implement, and manage donor acknowledgement process
Conduct research on prospective donors: individuals, foundations, and corporations
Engage with donors and prospects as requested by the Executive Director
Lead creation of development materials
Manage and improve donor database
Work with Executive Director to identify, research, evaluation new grant opportunities
Prepare grant applications
Network with program officers and allied non-profits
Manage grant reporting
In coordination with the Executive Director, write select LOIs, grant applications, and grant reports
Increase revenue from grants
5 or more years of experience in development and fundraising, with specific experience growing donor contributions
2 or more years of experience growing corporate sponsorships, growing contributions from individual giving, or both
Experience building relationships and networking with the non-profit and philanthropic community
Exceptional time management, organizational, and project prioritization skills
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Passion for children in the amazing world of math and problem-solving.
