1. Assists in the daily operations of the assigned WIC Food and Nutrition Center; including opening and closing of center; staff supervision, inventory maintenance and control, orders equipment and supplies, and promotes positive customer and vendor relationships. 2. Provides proficient, on time and approachable customer service for WIC food center customers which includes greeting customers and responding to questions. Offering assistance to customers on the description of merchandise verifying customer's participation in the program, validating coupons, and correctly scanning items on the register. Ensures coupons/vouchers are provided to the Center Director in a timely manner. 3. Performs accurate inventory of all food products on a daily basis, as well as proper distribution and placement of products. 4. Assists in receiving, storing, and stocking of products while ensuring proper rotation and quality. Ensures product is displayed in an organized manner and according to departmental procedure, rotated within expiration date to ensure product freshness, and properly displayed including proper facing of products. Also, assists in checking and verifying dates on all merchandise and checking the condition of merchandise and notifying directors of damaged products or those products which have expired or are soon to expire. 5. Maintains accurate knowledge of store items and services and offers exceptional customer assistance by offering direction to product location in the center or services offered in the center. May refer customers to additional services offered in the center, Catholic Charities or other community services. 6. Ensures accurate pricing of all merchandise through stamping and attaching shelf signs/tags. 7. Bags customer purchases for appropriate handling by customer and for maintaining the integrity of the product. 8. Unloads product from trucks and organizes stock room as needed. May operate back room equipment including pallet jack, dolly, flatbeds and electric jack. 9. Cleans cases, shelves, coolers, and light maintenance duties in the center; including light mopping and sweeping, dusting and cleaning of shopping carts. 10. Helps ensure the internal and external environment of the center is safe from any hazards. Reports suspicious activities or safety concerns in and outside the center to the assistant center director or director.
PLEASE NOTE: Essential functions include all other duties and responsibilities as assigned:
Kneel and move from sitting, bending, kneeling or standing multiple times a day. Lift up to 50 pounds. Climb up and down up to 3 flights of stairs at a time. Push and pull objects up to 50 pounds
Additional Requirements: Must be flexible to work at other WIC Food and Nutrition Centers. Must be able to work evenings, nights, and weekends.

Additional Requirements: This position may require the operation of Heavy Machinery as defined in the Catholic Charities of the Archdiocese of Chicago CDOS Drug and Alcohol Policy
Education and Experience Requirements:
Preferred Relevant Education: High School diploma
Minimum Relevant Education: GED
Preferred Relevant Experience: 3-5 Years retail experience
Minimum Relevant Experience: 1-2 Years retail experience
