Assist in the promotion and implementation of the Aging Well Neighborhood (AWN) Program. The AWN is a grant funded program with the vision “To collaboratively transform the health and healthcare of aging adults through the creation of a health neighborhood that assists the whole person, and affirms the life long process of wellness and prevention”. The Specialist will work directly with older adults, their family caregivers, community groups, businesses, and nonprofit organizations, to develop, market, deliver, and measure health and wellness programs for older adults living in our community. They will conduct seminars and health workshops utilizing evidence-based curriculums that have been shown to improve self-management of health and decrease preventable illness, hospitalization, and exacerbation of chronic disease symptoms among older adults (for example, Take Charge of Your Health, Take Charge of Your Diabetes, Walk with Ease, Matter of Balance). The Specialist will also attend and present at community fairs and groups; conduct outreach to build community participation in ACC health programs; and work with businesses to further develop their age-friendly practices.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills • Comfortable speaking with groups of all sizes; Excellent presentation skills • Prior experience in training or education a plus • Experience developing and conducting educational/health and wellness programs • Excellent Excel skills; Strong MS Office skills (Access, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook) • Excellent organizations skills, ability to multitask, and strong commitment to timely execution of tasks • Strong problem solving and decision making skills • Professionalism and good sense of client service • Social Media knowledge and prior marketing experience a plus • Strong desire to work with older adults and community members; Prior experience working with older adults a plus.
