The Chief Development Director oversees all activities at the Boulevard related to maintaining and developing new revenue streams.
Reports to: Chief Executive Officer
Directly supervises: Grant Writer and Development Associate
Is a member of the agency’s leadership team.
Supervises Development Department staff.
Creates bi-monthly reports as a component of the Board Packet and attends all regular meetings of the Board of Directors.
Works with the CEO and the Finance Director to draft an annual budget and cash flow projections
Works with the Finance Director on monitoring/adjusting monthly cash flow projections.
Procures and coordinates all Development Department vendor usage.
Serves as the agency contact on the Board Development Committee.
Serves as the agency contact with the Associate Board.
Oversees database management.
Capacity Building Duties:
Works directly with the Chief Executive Officer on identifying new funding opportunities.
Works directly with the CEO on long-range fundraising strategies to support the future growth of Boulevard programs.
Is the agency contact on government funding: including primary responsibility for proposals, renewals, and coordinating reporting: including HUD, VA, DFSS, CDPH, and the VA.
Attends all mandated and partnership meetings convened by government funders.
Maintains active participation in the Chicago Continuum of Care/All Chicago.
Foundation, Congregation, and Corporate Funding:
Oversee the agency’s Grants Manager, proofing and approving all letters of inquiry, proposals, and reports before forwarding to the CEO for final approval and signature.
Sets and monitors compliance with the Grants Calendar.
Considers, approves, and directs movement on institutional prospecting.
Organizes and participates in Site-Visits.
Is directly responsible for building the Annual Fund, overseeing the Annual Appeal, social media fundraising, and working with the Associate Board.
Represents the agency on the Gala Committee and serves as the Central Clearing House on all Gala-related activities. Direct involvement includes organizing the solicitation of sponsorships, invitations, program book, scripting, working with all vendors, acknowledgments and financial reporting.
Create an annual marketing plan to promote agency to public & private donors and contractual partners & prospects.
Oversee the production of all marketing materials, including the agency’s E-News, Promotional Kit, Annual Appeal, Video production, and Annual Report. The BRMO will work with Program staff on compiling “success stories” for marketing materials.
Oversees and gives final approval to all Volunteer activities and reports.
Represents The Boulevard in community meetings, committee meetings, special events, and events organized by funders.
Masters’ degree preferably in Marketing/Communication or Nonprofit Administration
10+ years in nonprofit fundraising, with at least 5 years in a Director-level position; proven understanding of the homelessness services network; strong written and verbal communications skills; strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects; experience in staff supervision; proficiency in Microsoft Office Suites;
