The Organization: Glessner House is a globally recognized National Historic Landmark that is undergoing exciting growth and change. We serve our guests through a dynamic array of public programs and are the proud stewards of the last remaining H. H. Richardson building in Chicago.
We are known for our extraordinary Arts & Crafts collection, our painstaking restorations, and the quality and depth of our programming.
We have recently adopted a new strategic plan and mission statement and are about to implement the results of new fundraising and audience development research and planning.
Our stunning 19th century fully restored mansion is home to dozens of tours, events, classes, lectures, concerts, celebrations and more.
We strive to inspire people to enrich their lives through experiencing the power of architecture, design and cultural history.
The Position: We’re looking for an Administrative Director.
The Administrative Director is a co-director position along with the Curator and Program Director; both report to the Board of Directors.

Set overall direction for Glessner House and ensure adherence to its mission, vision, and values statements
Collaborate with board and staff to implement our current strategic plan
Develop and maintain external relationships, and coordinate fundraising activities in collaboration with the development manager
Oversee events manager, development manager, building coordinator, and bookkeeper
Direct all aspects of marketing and public relations
Manage benefits and HR functions, and administrative procedures
Direct house maintenance and use
Manage office technology
Five years’ experience in a management position with a small nonprofit
Demonstrated ability to successfully manage multiple responsibilities with grace and good humor
Willingness to take on tasks ranging from strategic planning to changing lightbulbs, and from improving operational efficiencies to setting up tables and chair
The Location: Glessner House is based in the South Loop of Chicago, a dynamic and rapidly developing neighborhood that is served by multiple bus and train lines.
