FLAP is seeking to hire a part-time development assistant responsible for working closely with the Executive Director to develop a sustainable financial plan for the organization and for the overall management and direction of the organization’s development.
1) To assist with the organization’s grants process, assume major responsibility for all grant-writing efforts and ensure quality proposals are completed in full and submitted on time. Oversee database of current and prospective funders. Be familiar with current grant and contract obligations, reporting requirements and reporting formats and templates. Maintain accurate grant and reporting calendar, and collaborate with executive director to ensure those obligations and reporting requirements are met, 2) manage and coordinate the Beckman farmworker advocate of the year fundraiser, 3) coordinate the annual appeal, 4) research new project specific ideas to determine the potential for funding, 5) Maintain regular contact with donors and do donor’s cultivation 6) look for potential major donors, maintain existing donor relationships and increase donor base. Ensure prompt acknowledgement/thank you for all donations 7) Responsible for submitting reports for the Executive Director. 8) assist with whatever additional fundraiser tasks as directed by the Executive Director.
1) Fluency in written and spoken English is mandatory, 2) Strong writing and oral communication and research skills are required, 3) Demonstrated commitment to social justice and immigrants’ rights, 4) Familiarity with fundraising and development in the legal sector a plus. 5) Strong organizational skills, 6) Ability to work independently, 7) Outstanding communication skills, 8) individually motivated and able to keep momentum, 9) ability to multitask, 10) efficiency and prompt turn-around mandatory.
Additional Salary Information: This is a part-time position, 24 hours per week.
Pay and benefits dependent on experience and skills.
