Are you a leader intrigued by the day-to-day management of an historic congregation in Chicago’s Hyde Park neighborhood? Congregation Rodfei Zedek is looking for a Synagogue Executive Director responsible for all the congregation’s physical, security, and administrative affairs.
CRZ has a slogan: “One Community, Many Voices.” Your job would be to bring that slogan to life—to help create and maintain the kind of warm, welcoming, and secure environment that our congregation has always had. The Executive Director is in charge of maintaining all policy and procedures of the synagogue—and working with the rabbi, cantor, and lay leadership as part of an energetic team, bringing a growing community to a new level. The position reports to the Board Officer for Synagogue Operations, and the Executive Director is responsible for supervision of office and maintenance personnel.
Administrative support and oversight: ensuring the smooth administrative functioning of the synagogue and supervision of clerical and custodial staff
Public and community relations: promoting a positive image of the synagogue among staff, congregants,and community
Membership:upholding the supportive and courteous image for which the synagogue is known—toward its members and visitors alike
Finance and budget: managing the day-to-day financial operations within the approved budget
Facilities: ensuring the cleanliness and smooth operation of the building, grounds, property, and equipment
Customer service experience
Strong financial and personnel management skills and experience
Professional, positive demeanor and exceptional interpersonal skills
Excellent written and oral communication skills
Familiarity with and appreciation of Jewish values, culture, and tradition Social media experience
Working knowledge in Word, Excel, GoogleDocs, Microsoft Publisher
Familiarity with—or ability to learn—MM2000, Constant Contact, QuickBooks, and other software and management tools as needed
Ability to independently manage multiple ongoing tasks and projects to deadline

This is a full-time, salaried, on-site position. It includes regular hours plus some evening meetings, weekend events, and Jewish holiday presence. Flexibility is key.
